    • Vi Bailey was born Viola Elaine Watts on 18th November 1921 at Proserpine Hospital to William Watts Jnr & Violte Annah Watts(nee Simpson), one of five children, William jnr jnr, Thomas, Viola, Rachel & George Henry (Harry).
      Viola grew up at Wirrena on the Andromache River & worked at Fairfield with Pop, Bill, Tom, Ray & the Shannon Familey.
      On the 1st October, 1943, Viola gave birth to her first son, Ken who was adopted by Ed & Laurel Scullet of Theodore.
      Viola me Arnold Arthur (Artie) Bailey at Exmoor Station & Married in Mackay on 25th July 1945.
      They lived at Exmoor Station until the early 50's, where she gladly took up residence in her first house (hut) built by Artie, having an indoor kitchen & no dirt floor. During this time she gave birth to Arthur Leslie William Bailey in Mackay Hospital on the 15th may 1946.
      Their nextmove was to Birralee/12 mile, where Vi worked as a cook & Artie as head Stockman.
      The couple than lived at Bloomsbury where Arthur was able to attend Primary School. Artie worked as a butcher at the butcher shop owned by Bill Shannon.
      The next move was back to the Collinsville area - firstly at 12 mile than back into town living at Station Strret, so Arthur could attend Secondary School. The next move was to Old Town to take care of her Father Pop William Watts jnr. Artie than worked at Collinsville Power Station until retiremnt. In retirement, they had enjoyed travelling to many places in their caravan, including around Australia with Bill & Merle Shannon.
      Vi Lived alone at the old town, since the passing of Artie in 1991.
      Viola was loved by all, making sure that no one ever went short of a hug, kiss & a joke. Everyone knew where to go for a cup of tea & a biscuit. She was happy to have many friends of all ages, & will be missed by all.

    • Bailey-Watts: There was a Methodis Curch, Mackay on Wednesday,July 25, when
      Viola Elaine only daughter of Mr & Mrs Watts, Proserpine, was married to
      Arnold Arthur, eldest son of Mrs Bailey & Late Arthur Samuel Bailey, Exmoor
      Station Collinsville. the bride was frocked in a very nice but simple wedding
      frock & looked charming as she walked down the aisle of the church on the
      arm of Mr. W.C. o'Loughlan, North Mackay, who Subsequently gave her away, Miss
      Lorna Downs, Of Proserpine, was bridesmaid, and Mr. W.C. Bosel carried out the
      duties of best man. The Wedding was held very quietly in respect to the recent
      passing of the bridegroom's father in October & brother Les who was killed
      in action in April. Mrs Cross presided at the organ. After the wedding there was
      a quiet & brief reception upstairs at Zeglas Cafe. The Young couple will
      make their future home at Exmoor Station.
