    • Charles was born the sixth child of ten to parents John and Marrion in Bigerfoord, County Lanarkshire Scotland. He married Mary Main in 1859 and started a family of his own. He Lived at the Police office in 1871 and was either the Jailor or took care of the horses. His title was "ostler" On the night of 2/3 April, 1871 The jail held six men and two women. By 1881 his wife Mary seems to have perished and he was remarried to a woman named Margaret who brought at least one child into the marriage named John Taylor. By 1901 he was a Widow again and is listed as a Carriage hirer. His grandchildren ; Robert,Mary and Jeanie all lived at 51 Stirling st. Airdrie, Scotland at the Funeral home where he worked.
