    • I am unsure if Alexander and Penelope married in Kirkcubright before leaving or perhaps they married onboard the "«i»Emperor«/i»" I have never been able to find a record for their marriage as yet. Family stories have it that they married then a couple of months after the marriage sailed for Australia. On the birth records of their children it states they where married 7 Feb 1851 in Kirkcudbright.

    • «b»Local pioneer dies at age of 96. Newspaper clipping (Date Unknown 1967)«/b» In the death on December 8, of Mrs Mary Faulkner, at the age of 96, a link with early Narrabri has been severed. Mrs Faulkner was the widow of the late Septimus Faulkner, who, at the time of their marriage was conducting the cordial factory in Narrabri. Born Miss Mary Frater, at her parents property, Merrilong Park, Quirindi, Mrs Faulkner came to Narrabri about the year of 1892, living with her parents at Millfield, Narrabri untill her marriage. Though of shy and retiring nature, Mrs Faulkner carried out her duties as wife of the Mayor during her husband's term of office around the year of 1910. She gave quietly to charities, and devoted her time increasingly to her husband's business. Following Mr. Faulkners death in 1936, she carried on the business with the assistance of Mr A.Frater, who later took over management and became a share holder. Mrs. Faulkner donated a portion of land in Dangar Village, along the creek bank, for use as a park and children's playground, when Braeburn Progress Association was formed in the late 1930's. However, the association was disbanded at the outbreak of World War 11, and the gesture was lost in the passage of time. At that period also, a footbridge was to have been built across the creek at the end of Violet Strret, following representations from Progress Association members, who were also prepared to contribute voluntry labour. It was considered that a pedestrian outlet to serve Dangar Villiage and provide a safe access for students attending the High School, was essential. She is survived by a sister, Mrs Alf Ritter, of Maitland Street. Mrs Faulkner left Narrabri in 1963 to live in Mossman. Mrs Faulkner died in a private hospital, having enjoyed good health up to her 94th year. Well-known Narrabri connections are her nephews, Mr. A. Frater of Maitland Street, Mr Ken Frater, of Millfield, Narrabri, and niece, Mrs G. Foxe of Barwan Street. [6]
